Easter series: Caramel popcorn
One of the things I love the most about holiday season are the treats that come with them. At work school, church etc, people are constantly exchanging little sweet treats around the holiday season. These are a very simple treat to make and give to your coworkers, friends, etc. I made mine and gave them to me neighbors kids. They where so happy because the popcorn also had Easter skittles and MnM chocolates! For the popcorn, I just got some seeds from my local bulk barn, made a caramel drizzle sauce, added some coloring, MnMs and voila I had a nice treat to help spread holiday cheer. The recipe below is for the caramel drizzle that i got from one of my favorite bloggers Ree aka the pioneer woman!
1 packed cup brown sugar
1/2 cup half-and-half
4 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Mix the brown sugar, half-and-half, butter and salt in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook while whisking gently for 5 to 7 minutes, until it gets thicker. Add the vanilla and cook another minute to thicken further. Turn off the heat, cool slightly and pour the sauce into a jar. Refrigerate until cold.
