Easy Pasta Bake

Todays weeknight recipe is something very simple that even the most amateur cook can make. It packs such a punch of yummy flavours that makes you want to go for so many more servings than you should. I made my first ever pasta bake in University. It was one of those things that was fast, easy and affordable for my college student lifestyle since then however my pasta bake ‘skills’ have grown and is more refined for my grown up palette!

One of my favourite things about this recipe is how easily you can adapt it to anything else. Don’t like ground beef? you can use chicken, tuna, vegetables, shrimps anything. Prefer macaroni? you can use that instead of Fusilli. The possibilities are really endless with this dish. Sometimes I use sausages, other times I add mushrooms or even spinach for a more healthy version. Anything you really love can be used so run wild and have fun with this dish. Here is the simple recipe below.

This easy ground beef pasta bake is the perfect meal to make for a truly delicious weeknight dinner.


  • 425g fusili pasta (you can use any pasta you really like.)
  • 1lb ground beef
  • 1 jar tomato sauce (or make your own from scratch...recipe to follow)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (more if you want it to be extra cheesy)
  • 2 cubes seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 Small onion (chopped)


  • fresh basil for garnish


Step 1 In a big pot, add enough water to boil the pasta. salt the water and bring it to a boil. Add the pasta and boil for 6-7 minutes or until al dente. Drain the pasta water and set aside.
Step 2 In a pan, add a few splashes of oil. Add the onions and fry until they start to get translucent. Then add the ground beef and stir. Season with one seasoning cube, salt, pepper and curry(optional). Cook for 5-7 minutes or until the meat has been propel cooked. Place the cooked ground beef into the pasta pot.
Step 3 in the same pan. Add a little bit more oil and allow to get hot. Then add the tomato sauce and stir. Season with seasoning cube, salt, pepper, onion powder, curry, and thyme. Cook until the oil comes to the top but not all dry because you need as much of that tomato sauce as possible.
Step 4 Pour the tomato sauce into the pot that has the pasta and ground beef and stir till properly combined. Add had the cp of cheese and stir well.
Step 5 Heat the oven to 500F. Pour the mixture into a 11x8 casserole dish and spread until even layered. Sprinkle the rest of the cheese to cover the entire pasta. Bake in oven for 5-7 minute for until cheese is fully melted.
Step 6 Serve while hot.


  • I made my own tomato sauce myself. I blended 3 tomatoes, 1 onion, half bell pepper and 1  habanero(I wanted it spicy)
  • if you use a canned tomatoes, you might have to boil it longer so the sweetness comes out.
  • Like i said in the intro, you can substitute almost every part of this dish for anything you prefer. It is just a base with so many possibilities.
  • Your casserole dish would get very hot. Please use gloves

  1. Hello. Thanks for this recipe. Please is minced meat the same as ground beef? Cos I only got the mince and it’s like long thin rows was wondering if I Shd cut them up? Thanks.

  2. I tried this recipe and it was so yummy, I used bow tie pasta and chicken with a sugo sauce. so easy and oh so good.
