Journey to the aisle: How we met
This series is going to do something I have not done in years on this blog. It is going to make me uncomfortable but it is also going to make me really happy. I took a huge hiatus from my blog when I was planning my wedding. It only makes sense that I share with my lovely readers part of the reason why I was MIA for almost a year. I met my husband in 2012 on my 25th birthday. I had planned a sleepover with about 6 friends and at midnight we where dancing and singing and my mum called. She prayed for me and told me that I would meet my husband this year IJN. I said Amen as and just shrugged it off as usual and went ahead to have fun with my friends. We had lots of food and drinks (LINK TO THAT BIRTHDAY) and I had a really good time. The next day (my actual birthday) I got ready and went to church for thanksgiving Sunday with my cousin and a few other friends. We got to church and it was a lovely service as usual. I noticed a guy I had never seen before seating a few rows behind me. He kept starring at me (LOL he wold never ever admit this FYI) so I kept looking back to see who was looking at me. it was also my birthday so a few friends at church kept waving and stuff so I kept looking back. At the end of the service i danced a bit more than other people and was just really grateful to God for life and everything that had happened to me thus far; challenges and all.
My cousin O needed a ride back to her house after church and guess who was giving her a ride, THE STARRING GUY! I could not believe it. I walked with them to my car to get my cousins stuff and he tried to make small talk with me and told me he heard it was my birthday and happy birthday etc. I was just polite and answered as I normally would with a stranger. We all said our good byes and went home. Later that evening my cousin called me and asked me if I was seriously seeing anyone and I told her no. I asked why and she said “just because” but I already knew why she asked but I decided not to say anything.
For the next six months, D and I became church friends. You know those friends you always say hi to in church but you don’t talk to them outside church? Yup! I would see him every Sunday, we would chat for about 5 minutes and say bye bye. He gave me a ride home once, harassed me about wearing a ring on my wedding finger another time, made me say his name like 50 times one day because I kept forgetting it LOL, told me my skirt was distracting him another time and was just always looking for my trouble. LOL!
Sometime in May when I was done school, I traveled for about 4 Sundays in a row. when I came back, guess who was walking in the same time I was, him! We quickly said hello and then sat on the same row but between a whole bunch of people. At the end of the service my cousin came and took my hand and went and gave it to him. I was so shocked but tried to remain cool as a badsharpbabe . He FNALLY asked me for my number and as they say the rest is history! LOL! Seriously since that day, I think I have seen him everyday (except when I travel). I have spoken to him every single day and I would not change any single thing. I think God took those six months to prepare us for each other. Weirdly enough we both lived in Ottawa but never met. We have a bunch of mutual friends but never knew each other. I think God was working on each of us so that when we met, we would not mess it up. I am so thankful for that day on December 2nd 2012 and for the many adventures we have gone through. Its only the beginning and I cannot wait for the rest of it!
